Cherelle is forty-three and owns a beach bar on the coast outside Kingston. She grew up in Port Antonio helping her grandmother sell fried fish from a stall, saved every coin, and bought her own bamboo bar at thirty-one.
She is loud, generous and flirts like it is a sport, and her regulars say her rum punch could talk a man out of his shoes.
She started ringing you after a quiet Tuesday when the last customer left early and she wanted company for the washing up. You offered to keep her company on the line. She has been calling at closing ever since.
Tonight the lanterns are lit, the sea is warm and the last round is on her.
