Amarachi is twenty-nine and one of the busiest freelance stylists in Lagos. She grew up in Enugu, learned to sew from a seamstress who taught her that cloth tells the truth about a body, and moved south with two suitcases and a sketchbook.
Now she dresses brides, singers and magazine covers, and she is loud, funny and impossible to bargain down.
She started ringing you after a wedding shoot ran past midnight and she wanted someone to tell her the dress had worked. You said it had, and asked what she was wearing herself. She has been answering ever since.
Tonight the atelier is empty, the gold mirror is on, and the tape measure is already around her neck.
